DAVID SZALAY GUEST AUTHOR OF INTERLIBER 2026
The Booker Prize winner David Szalay will appear at Interliber 2026 in the organization of Zagreb Fair and the publishing house Sandorf.
Szalay is considered one of the leading British prose writers of his generation. Born in Canada in 1974 and raised in London, the award-winning author has written several novels and prose works that have been translated into numerous languages.
His debut novel, London and the South-East, received both the Betty Trask Award and the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize, while the novel All That Man Is was shortlisted for the 2016 Booker Prize and received the Gordon Burn Prize.
Croatian readers may already know Szalay from his appearances at the Lit Link Festival in 2017 and 2023, organized by the Croatian Writers' Society (HDP), as well as from the Croatian edition of the novel All That Man Is (Sve što muško jest).
In 2025, Szalay won the Booker Prize for his novel Flesh. The Croatian translation, Meso, will be published this October, shortly before his arrival at Interliber.
NOVELTY: LET ME TELL YOU A STORY - A FAIRY TALE IN OUR HANDS
In order to inspire the love of books among the youngest readers, this year we present a special project: “Let Me Tell You a Story - A Fairy Tale in Our Hands”, taking place on the gallery of the pavilion 5.
Through interactive workshops and storytelling sessions, we will demonstrate the power of fairy tales and the invaluable importance of reading to children from an early age. Fairy tales are not just a child’s first contact with books but also a vital encounter with fundamental human values, the first lesson in distinguishing between good and evil in the world that surrounds them.
The right book at the right time is all we need to enrich our world because, as Joseph Addison said: “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.”
Admission is free for all visitors.
We look forward to your visit and to meeting you again.
