TEENS DAYS - HIGH FIVE

Entertainment, education and useful information are the backbone of the new project of the Zagreb Fair intended for teenagers - HIGH FIVE, Teen Days - to be held on 11 and 12 September in the pavilion 5 and at the adjacent open-air space.

In cooperation with the educational, cultural, sports and other institutions and organizations for secondary school students and primary school pupils of higher grades, we have prepared a range of sports, dance, music and fashion events, quizzes, games, contests, tournaments, concerts, karaoke, courses, workshops, lectures, debates and demo polygons.

We wish to single out:

  • attractive performances by the best urban style dancers, winners of the TREPS festival in the category of urban dances: Transform Crew and SOSS – School of Street Styles
  • The GOLDEN MICROPHONE of Novi Zagreb - competition finals for amateur singers - sponsored by Hypo Alpe Adria Bank. Novi Zagreb Cultural Centre is the centre of creativity and production of cultural products for the general public. The Festival for amateur singers has been organized continuously since 1998 for children and young people to express their creativity through stage performances of popular songs by local and foreign music stars. The "Golden Microphone of Novi Zagreb" is a kind of gathering of young people who love to sing and who express their creativity through stage performances and musical interpretation. The programme is designed to assist its participants in the transition from amateur to professional musicians.

  • programmes, workshops, exercise on the topics: prevention of violence and human trafficking, first aid, water safety code, first aid demo exercise, large exercise of all emergency services, use of AED devices
  • prevention of alcohol and drug addiction, self-protective behavior, safe driving of scooters and bicycles
  • creative workshops for making of jewelry and bookmarkers
  • driving competition on Formula 1 simulators – first prize: safe driving training - sponsor Oryx Driving school and Safe driving centre


QUIZ rules:

1) Quiz is for teams that should consist of five players from the same school. A school may delegate several teams. Each team must have a name.
2) The first quiz (on Friday) is for primary schools, 7th and 8th grade. The second quiz (on Saturday) is for secondary schools.
2) The quiz includes 30 questions covering the widest possible range of knowledge, appropriate to the age. There are 4 response options for each question, only one of them being correct. The team has 30 seconds to think and consult.
3) The winner is the team with the most points. In case of a draw, the teams will play a tiebreak.
4) The jury is authorized to settle all objections and its decisions are final.
5) It is strictly forbidden to use electronic devices.

ZAMP: “Talk to young musicians: to live FROM music or FOR music?“

PARTICIPANTS: Fil Tilen, Ivan Zak, Kandžija, Kim Verson, Mate Palestrina Mazić and Marko Jankek (Big Strip Gorila)

Croatian Composers’ Association ZAMP, as partner and co-organizer of festivals will have its “music corner” at the Zagreb Fair to make various educational materials on music authors and exercising of rights available to young people as well as to enable them a quick insight into the Croatian music scene.

On Friday 11 September it will be very interesting at the ZAMP exhibition space from 16:00 -17:00 h when the teen public will be able to participate in the panel with young musicians on the topic: "To live from music or for music”:

Fil Tilen, Ivan Zak, Kandžija, Kim Verson, Marko Jankek and Mate Palestrina Mazić (the last two are the members of the Zagreb based rock bend Big Strip Gorila) are all both authors and performers, each unique in their own way, in their field of music, be it pop music, rock'n'roll, pop or hip-hop. In a panel to be moderated by Milan Majerović-Stilinović they will reveal what music means to them and how they live from it in Croatia 2015. They will reveal the most amusing and hardest things in dealing with music, compromises they agree to when creating songs and the relationship between money and art in their work. The visitors will be able to ask many, many questions and take pictures with the musicians after the panel.

Big Comic Gorilla is an energetic indie rock band that describes their music as "rock zoo". In 2013 the band released a song called "Denial of a perfect story" published on the first Croatian indie compilation "Traces" for Croatia Records. Next year they will release a single and video for "Dresden", a song they successfully presented at the Rockoff Festival. Since the release of their first single the band played at a lot of concerts, including Banja Luka Jelen Demofest, Terraneo, Ferragosto festival, Mars Moon, Muf, Rock camp Orsula, West Herzegovina Fest and international Emergenza Festival. This June they released a video for "Bermuda Triangle", their latest single prior to the release of their first solo discography EP edition, which is expected this October.

! On Saturday, 12 September from 19:00 - 21:00 h in cooperation with Enter Zagreb radio that is providing media support we organize a Large DJ party with DJ Ermin megahits from Enter. 

Come, dance, hang out because everybody is going to be there!

During two days at the Zagreb Fair everybody will get their chance for fun and for acquiring information on the possibility of further education, foreign language and driving courses, use of free time, dance, sport, new technologies and other topics that are the focus of interest of young people on the threshold of adult life.
