After four days, Zagreb Fair saw the closing of Ambienta, the 52nd International Fair of Furniture, Interior Decoration, Construction, Low-Energy Prefabricated Building and Hotel and Restaurant Equipment.
In six pavilions and in the open-air space, more than 200 exhibitors from 21 countries presented their products and services, thus confirming the undeniable importance of Ambienta as a key reference point for connecting industry professionals, innovation and business opportunities.
At the official opening of the fair, Renata Suša, Zagreb Fair Director, emphasized the profound connection between the fair and the universal need for home: “Home is one of our innermost needs. It is the space where we live, grow and dream. That is why Ambienta has been shaping trends in interior design and the way we think about living for more than half a century.”
The fair was inaugurated by Tomislav Tomašević, Mayor of the City of Zagreb, who reminded the attendees that Ambienta is one of the oldest trade fairs in Europe and that the development of the Croatian wood and furniture industries has progressed hand in hand with the evolution of this fair. He also underlined that this year’s Ambienta is sending a clear message about sustainability, particularly in the context of climate changes, thereby strongly encouraging an environmentally conscious approach to living.
Sustainability in the Spotlight
This year’s Ambienta focused on sustainability, renewable building materials, energy-efficient construction systems and smart home solutions. Visitors had the opportunity to explore an extensive assortment of products made by renowned manufacturers across all segments of home furnishing, from furniture to energy-efficient appliances.
One of the most prominent projects was #StanZaSutra, a fully equipped apartment showcasing sustainable furniture, appliances and décor. Under the auspices of the City of Zagreb and in collaboration with the main partner JYSK and partners (Aid Furniture, Chromos Paints and Varnishes, Gorenje, Feal, Rockwool and SG Forma), Zagreb Fair set up this exhibition space to demonstrate that a home can be environmentally friendly, functional, affordable, and aesthetically appealing all at the same time.
The uniqueness of the project lies in connecting sustainability and social responsibility, since all the furniture and equipment from the Apartment will be donated after the fair to a housing community for young people within the Semi-Independent Living Programme, specifically to one of the apartments provided by the City of Zagreb for use by SOS Children's Villages Croatia.
Ambienta as a Business Platform and an Education Hub
Thanks to the comprehensive professional programme, Ambienta strongly emphasized its role as a relevant and influential business platform. Through numerous lectures, panels and targeted roundtable discussions, leading experts not only shared their knowledge but also offered participants concrete, applicable solutions and best practices.
The business aspect of the fair was particularly accentuated at two major conferences: "Construction and Investments 2025" and "I Want a Lift!", along with the highly relevant panel discussion on the topic "Why are the Registers of Co-Owners’ Communities and Managers Extremely Important to Co-owners."
Trade fairs like Ambienta are more than just exhibition spaces, they offer professionals an invaluable platform for networking, exchanging experiences and discovering new business opportunities, thereby encouraging the development of the entire industry.
On Sunday, the lucky winners of the prize draw for visitors were also announced.
This year’s Ambienta was supported by the City of Zagreb, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Hrvatske šume (Croatian Forests), the Croatian Chamber of Economy and the Croatian Chamber of Crafts and Trades.
