BIAM and WELDING

The biennial business fairs BIAM - the 27th International Machine Tool and Tools Fair and WELDING - the 30th International Welding and Anticorrosion Fair will be held at the exhibition spaces of Zagreb Fair from 9 - 12 April 2024.

BIAM and WELDING as the only industrial fairs in the country represent a significant economic and business gathering on this specialized topic and a B2B meetings venue for all existing and potential partners and exhibitors. This year’s edition will be the largest in the past 20 years.

The main sponsor of the Biam Fair is LORSEL GROUP and of Welding Fair ELEKTRODA ZAGREB d.d.

This year's edition will be held at 11,000 square meters in four pavilions (8, 8A, 9 and 11A) with participation of 349 exhibitors from 28 countries (Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Croatia, Italy, Israel, Japan, Canada, China, Hungary, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Portugal, USA, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK).

Renowned Croatian and world manufacturers, distributors and service providers have confirmed their presentation of new machine tools, tools, welding equipment and technologies for protection against corrosion as well as technological solutions and sophisticated IT applications, flexible solutions and new product development technologies.

Fairs are first and foremost focused on primary and secondary economic activities. As such, they are an ideal opportunity to present and promote new technologies and systems in the field of machine tools and tools, machines for processing various materials, welding, welded structures, materials, components, automation of production and processes (robotics, software and engineering), advanced technologies, measurement techniques, quality control and protection against corrosion.

BIAM and WELDING promote Zagreb as the regional center for industry, technology and business and contribute to strengthening the city's reputation and attracting foreign investors.

Today, in the era of globalization, it is precisely the organization of specialized fairs that is necessary to bring together entities whose specialized projects will result in excellence of a specific sector. Participation in trade fairs enables companies to follow the competition, identify market and demand trends, and adapt their business to the needs of end customers. Visitors are given the opportunity to learn about the latest technologies, trends and best practices in the industry through seminars, lectures and presentations.

Overall, holding the industrial fairs Biam and Welding at Zagreb Fair has a wide range of advantages and significance for the industry, business community and the local economy. It is an opportunity for promotion, cooperation and exchange of knowledge that contributes to the growth and development of the industry.

INDUSTRIAL INCUBATOR

The special feature of this year's edition of the fairs is the INDUSTRIAL INCUBATOR.

For the first time, Zagreb Fair brings together the academic community and employers under the same roof, within the scope of the Biam and Welding Fairs. It will be a unique venue for presenting new technologies, featuring business entities and occupations, networking stakeholders, holding B2B meetings and, in particular, promoting universities and secondary schools involved in education for this type of profession.

The Industrial incubator has been created in order to gather and promote vocational occupations as well as present regional centers of competence aimed at transferring knowledge and popularizing these occupations and improving relations between employers and the academic community.

The Industrial Incubator will be supported by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Croatia, Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, Chamber of Trades and Crafts Zagreb, Lorsel Group, Elektroda Zagreb, Croatian Union of Innovators, Festo, Gredelj and Monting.

The partners in the professional segment of the programme are BIOS Business Incubator, Metal Centre Čakovec, Rijeka Development Agency Porin, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, Croatian Union of Innovators, Croatian Employment Service, Inova, Hamag Bicro.

At the fairs, the Croatian Employment Service will present measures of active employment policy in 2024, measures for education of unemployed persons and training of employed persons, as well as education voucher programmes for employed and unemployed persons intended for strengthening their competitiveness on the labor market.

PROFESSIONAL AND ACCOMPANYING PROGRAMME

We wish to highlight the traditional KORMAT, the 26th International Symposium on Material Protection and Industrial Finishing organized by the Croatian Society for Material Protection to take place on 10 April.

Corrosion processes cause the deterioration of structures and great material losses in the economy of every country. Protection of structures from corrosion is one of the most important tasks of engineers and technicians of various professions who are involved in the design, manufacture, management and maintenance of devices and plants, in order to achieve greater durability and increase the reliability of structures and at the same time prevent product contamination and environmental pollution.

The aim of the Symposium is to present contemporary achievements in the field of protection against corrosion of construction materials, application of corrosion inhibitors, coating methods, prevention of corrosion in concrete, cathodic protection, technical regulations and corrosion tests. Experts in the sector will be able to improve their knowledge on construction materials and modern methods of protection against corrosion. The Symposium will be held in cooperation with Zagreb Fair.

The Croatian Association for Welding Technology, in cooperation with the Chair of Welded Structures at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, will organize the Welding Coordinators seminar on 9 April in the Congress Hall. Welding coordination is a very demanding job, so the experts who perform it must be familiar with the latest achievements in the sector. These regular annual gatherings are important for experts in the field since they can get acquainted with the latest standards and achievements in the field of welding and exchange experience.

OFFICIAL OPENING

The official opening will take place on Tuesday, 9 April at 10:00 h in the Congress Hall. The fairs are expected to be inaugurated by Mr. Tomislav Tomašević, Mayor of the City of Zagreb
