Interliber, the 47th International Book Fair, will be held from 11 to 16 November 2025 at Zagreb Fair.
As the most important national literary event, Interliber serves as a key platform for the promotion and distribution of books, science and knowledge in Croatia. Its fundamental role is to encourage reading and support the entire publishing industry.
The fair traditionally brings together all relevant domestic publishers and bookstores, who will present the public with a rich and diverse programme of new releases across all genres. By being held continuously and providing a high-quality offer every year, Interliber demonstrates the strength, stability and diversity of Croatian publishing, while also enabling direct contact between professionals and the general public with the latest national and international literary productions.
Interliber is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Zagreb.
Pavilions 5, 6, 7 and 7a will host more than 360 exhibitors from 15 countries (Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, France, Croatia, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, USA, Slovenia, Serbia, Sweden, UK) at over 13,000 m2.
One of the highlights of this year’s fair is the visit of the renowned Irish author Paul Lynch, winner of the prestigious 2023 Booker Prize for his novel “Prophet Song”.
The book promotion, along with meeting and book signing, will take place on Thursday, 13 November at 6:00 p.m. on the stage in the pavilion 7.
“Prophet Song”, Lynch’s fifth novel, is a highly gripping, propulsive and confrontational portrait of a family and an entire country on the brink of disaster. The story unfolds in a fictional Ireland slowly descending into tyranny.
Paul Lynch (born 1977 in Limerick, lives in Dublin) has established himself as one of the most important contemporary writers. With Prophet Song, he became the sixth Irish author to win the Booker Prize. His other novels include Beyond the Sea, Grace, The Black Snow and Red Sky in Morning.
Lynch is celebrated for his powerful and poetic writing style, and his novels often explore profound moral and social themes. His appearance at Interliber offers the Croatian audience a unique opportunity to gain firsthand insights and reflections from one of today’s most significant contemporary writers.
LET ME TELL YOU A STORY - A FAIRY TALE IN OUR HANDS
This year, Interliber places special emphasis on its youngest visitors, recognizing the importance of books in a child’s development and the stimulation of imagination. In doing so, Interliber confirms its mission to promote reading and literacy across all generations, with a particular focus on cultivating the next generation of readers.
Under the title “Let Me Tell You a Story - A Fairy Tale in Our Hands”, a series of interactive and innovative events will take place daily from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the gallery of the pavilion 5. These activities will introduce children to the magical world of stories. The children’s corner is a true oasis of creativity and learning, designed as a safe space to foster a lasting love of books and to bring attention back to the “good old fairy tale” from the earliest age.
The programme includes interactive pop-up performances for all ages (starting from 6 months), educational games based on literary quiz shows and creative literary workshops such as storytelling sessions, reading corners, writing your own stories and creating comic strip creation. All of this is complemented by art workshops titled “Magic Hands”, where fairy tales come to life through origami and chocolate workshops, accompanied by an exhibition of classic picture books.
A book of fairy tales is often a child’s first encounter with reading habits. Through these activities, Interliber aims to show that reading is not just a duty, but an endless source of fun, knowledge, and emotional growth.
DO YOU READ FEMALE AUTHORS?
A new feature this year is the launch of the Interliber Book Club “Do You Read Female Authors?”, whose first successful edition in September brought together businesswomen for a discussion of the selected book.
With this initiative, Zagreb Fair reaffirms its mission to make Interliber not just a book fair, but a place for fostering a vibrant reading community, building on its long-standing projects and offering new, enriching experiences for all lovers of the written word.
What makes this book club special are its members: successful women from the business world, a community deeply woven into the identity of the Fair. Book club meetings take place in a relaxed, informal atmosphere, bringing together women from the professional world who read, lead and inspire. Through discussions of selected titles by women authors, members have the opportunity to enjoy themselves, take a break from professional obligations and connect on a level that only literature can inspire.
PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
In addition to its exceptionally rich book selection, Interliber places great emphasis every year on its accompanying programme of events, which constantly attracts numerous visitors. Panels, workshops, lectures and meetings with authors are a key part of the fair, as they create an interactive atmosphere that encourages cultural exchange and the development of a reading community.
