Today Zagreb Fair saw the opening of Ambienta, the 53rd International Fair of Furniture, Interior Decoration, Construction and Sustainable Energy Solutions. The fair will remain open until Sunday, 4 October.
This year’s Ambienta brings together manufacturers, distributors, designers, architects, construction professionals as well as domestic and international experts: a total of 139 exhibitors from 22 countries showcasing their products and services.
The programme comprises four main segments: Furniture & Design, Prefabricated & Modular Houses, Smart Home & Energy Solutions and Interior & Exterior Design. Under one roof, visitors can find furniture and equipment for residential and commercial spaces, construction and interior design materials and solutions, prefabricated and modular buildings, heating, cooling and ventilation systems, heat pumps, solar systems and technologies for smart and efficient energy management.
The prefabricated and modular housing segment is particularly well represented. Visitors can explore completed models, compare different materials and construction methods and obtain first-hand information directly from manufacturers about technical specifications, furnishing options and construction timelines.
The fair was officially opened by Željko Uhlir, MSc, State Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets and Envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, who pointed out: “Ambienta is an international fair that gathers representatives of the furniture industry, interior and exterior design and modern construction. It is a major and demanding organizational project, which is why I congratulate the organizers every year. It is particularly encouraging to see that Ambienta has a long-standing tradition and is being held for the 53rd time this year. Since last year, the fair has also expanded its programme to include the fields of construction and housing”.
Renata Suša, Zagreb Fair Director, emphasized: “For more than half a century, Ambienta has been a place where those who envision spaces, those who build them and those who ultimately live in them come together. Here, you can find furniture, smart systems, heating and cooling solutions, energy-efficient technologies as well as prefabricated and modular houses. In other words, almost everything you need for your home. Ambienta is not just about looking at products and buying them. It is about asking questions, comparing options and exchanging ideas. And when we leave, we take home an idea we did not have when we arrived. That is precisely what Ambienta is about: finding ways to make the spaces we live in better, more beautiful and, wherever possible, more practical for everyday life.
For the second year in a row, we are implementing the project “StanZaSutra” (Apartment for Tomorrow), featuring a realistic 101-square-metre replica of an apartment. After the fair, all the furniture and equipment will be relocated to a municipal apartment in Novi Jelkovec, which will become a home for three young men participating in the Semi-Independent Living Programme of SOS Children’s Villages Croatia. And this is where Ambienta takes on its most meaningful purpose this year. It is wonderful to show what a good home can look like, but it is even more wonderful to give one to someone”.
Dunja Mazzocco Drvar, Head of the City Office for the Economy, Environmental Sustainability and Strategic Planning, stated: “This fair has a significant impact on the development of Croatia’s furniture industry and related sectors and to the creation of greater added value. The contribution of Ambienta and similar events to the economy of the City of Zagreb, to the city’s crafts and entrepreneurship sector and to the positioning of our manufacturers in international markets, is substantial. This year’s fair focuses on the future of living, innovation and sustainability, which is becoming one of the fundamental requirements for successful and responsible business”.
Renata Ojurović, PhD, Director of the Directorate for Forestry, Hunting and Wood Industry at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Republic of Croatia, underlined: “Ambienta is unique thanks to its long-standing tradition and continuity. Over the years, it has evolved from a furniture fair into a comprehensive exhibition and professional platform covering everything from spaces to the home. Maintaining such a long-standing tradition is only possible through the dedication and perseverance of the organizers and exhibitors”.
Antun Trojnar, Vice President of the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts, highlighted the long-standing partnership between the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts and Zagreb Fair: “The Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts has supported Ambienta from the very beginning. In today’s age of digitalization and information technology, nothing can replace the experience of seeing a product in person”.
#StanZaSutra (Apartment for Tomorrow)
One of the highlights of this year’s Ambienta is the socially responsible #StanZaSutra project, which has taken another step forward this year by furnishing a larger apartment with the support of even more partners. The initiative of Zagreb Fair, carried out with the support of the City of Zagreb in cooperation with partner companies and SOS Children’s Villages Croatia, connects environmentally responsible interior design and community care, centered around a concrete goal. The City of Zagreb, which also supports the project, is making a fully furnished 101-square-meter apartment available to SOS Children’s Villages Croatia for young people in the Semi-Independent Living Programme, while a faithful replica of the apartment will be installed at the fair. The project’s main partner is JYSK, with Chromos, Elgrad, FEAL Keramika, Gorenje, Gorica Staklo, Konzum, Masiv Club, ROCKWOOL, SG Forma and VIVAX also taking part.
Ambienta’s rich exhibition segment is complemented by a comprehensive professional programme
The central professional event is the conference ”Construction and Investments 2026: The Architecture of Change“, while the first day of the fair will feature the Forbes Croatia roundtable titled ”Who is Buying Apartments in Croatian Today“.
In cooperation with MediaTop International, the BravaCasa Design Awards will be presented at Ambienta on Friday, 2 October. On Friday and Saturday, visitors will be offered free consultations with architects and interior designers as part of the Meet the Architect programme.
For all visitors two prize draws have been prepared offering a range of prices for home decoration and interior design. Public drawing of winners will take place on the last day of the fair.
Opening hours: Thursday - Saturday: 10:00-19:00, Sunday until 18:00.
Admission to the fair is free.
